Park in your spot in front of this Megastore.
With the list in your hand, or on your phone.
Grab a cart to hold many things galore.
You push it, but a left turn is now prone.
You grab a new one, and now it goes straight.
But now a bumpy wheel in the first ten feet, you find.
Your patience is tested. Trying not to be irate.
This turmoil against calmness, your mind will grind.
The next one chosen appears to be behaving good.
Plodding along with the list on your mind.
Moving along isles, and people. Like a neighborhood.
How some dress, puts your brain in a bind.
There is a tug-of-war in your mind to think of them as lesser.
That people may be chameleons we must all understand.
That old, disheveled man just may be a professor.
Focusing only on your needed mission at hand.
Humans are individuals. Please don’t ignore them here.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to get along.
To acknowledge each other is to remove the fear.
Try to understand. Ignoring them is wrong.
When you pass in the aisle, acknowledge their existence.
At least say “Good afternoon” or “Good morning”.
It may contribute goodness to humanity’s persistence.
Don’t think less of them if their look is scorning.
Now you see a few that have a routine just like you.
Searching for a product that was here just last week.
Looking at prices. What have we gotten ourselves into?
When they move things around, it feels a little bleak.
To a shopper nearby, you make a subtle remark.
They have the same problem. You share a plight.
Together searching the isles, help does embark.
Deep down inside, to help them feels so right.
Looking at an item, you don’t see a price.
It is in the wrong spot. Did they forget the sign?
All you want is to purchase a bag of rice.
Sometimes the employee's efforts are so benign.
The prices are fair, so you put up with the mess.
Questing on through the many isles galore.
Your patience is tried. Discipline you must caress.
A shopper blocks the aisle. Your impatience you ignore.
They see you waiting. They jump to attention.
Quickly move to one side.
You say, “Thank you”, giving gratitude in retention.
Practice storing your pride.
Grab the rest of your items. See another familiar face.
Pushing your cart which is now of great weight.
Freedom from this store you faithfully will embrace.
The rest of the day will soon show its fate.
To the self-serve checkout, to do their work.
Trying to get the computer to scan the price.
The employees help, but mostly stand and lurk.
In humanity, will substitution of computers suffice?
No cashier said any greetings or wishes “Good day.”
Only the beep of proof that the item it did accept.
You do their work. Concentrate, so your mind can’t sway.
What best profits them, is the company’s precept.
You pay with a coin of plastic held with your hand.
Noticing the high score on the total amount.
The prices going up by someone else’s command.
You need these things. Groceries are so paramount.
Still, you realize you live in a country with blessings of things.
When things seem bad you must move your thoughts away.
Realize that good people and opportunity, this life brings.
In the mental state of goodness and help, love will stay.
