Struggling in the brain, are neurons acting.
Thoughts so wild. Subconscious reacting.
Who you really are, is trying to be so good.
But the animal inside has stubbornly stood.
The outside self tries to be so good and kind.
Inside, a small pocket of a treacherous mind.
The struggles of the flesh is a fight alone.
Strong competition inside is so often prone.
Looking for truth. Looking for the way.
Inside, we all participate in the fray.
Walking with love, turned quickly into hate.
Because of selfish thoughts inside, we advocate.
The animal walks around and rears its head.
The appetite it has so much needs to be fed.
Sometimes we work hard to beat it down.
Other times we may ask it to come around.
Hatred of others, for our selfish need.
Others we like. Our goodness we feed.
The ones we so like, we wish them to stay.
Of those we hate, selfishness says “Go away.”
Then there’s lust. To stay away we should.
But many times, to stay, we wish it would.
Afterwards we ask, “why so did I do this.”
This animal is strong. Now, the truth we miss.
Now comes the regret. The truth makes this a tool.
To show us the key. Don’t be the beast’s foot stool.
The confusion tempts us, way too much.
To look through it, we need a crutch.
We seek many vises. Various forms of play.
Many of which will cause spiritual decay.
Outside the flesh are many battles to win.
Inside yourself, lies much potential for sin.
Something will help. It’s God and his spirit.
Work hard and try. You will surely hear it.
The plan of the stars is to make you good.
Into the kingdom of sisters and brotherhood.
The toughest battle we will ever win.
Is with human nature, that is within.
Kasey Dann.
