The Apollo spacecraft had a fragment of power.

Than the device in your hand, connected to a tower.

Tentacles of information spread far and wide.

Complex in design, but we use it in stride.

Many people use it as a tool of instruction.

Some people, as fools, use it for destruction.

To this device most people, addiction is prone.

This drug of saturation is also known as a phone.

It’s a window to everywhere. A vast great land.

And now you can hold it in the palm of your hand.

But many times, this land exists not. A created scene.

Kept held in the mind of a manufactured machine.

Images of people. Enlarged and bragged as such.

But in reality, many times, they are not really much.

Sometimes it lures people with things they so crave for.

In some ways, people lust for it. Like an attention whore.

Also has blessings. Great things to your life it can feed.

Especially in dire straits, you can call who you need.

When into great turbulence you are hurled.

It is your lifeline to the outside world.

You can call people you love, of your own volition.

Just to say you care. Want to know their disposition.

Call and text all you want. Says your phone carrier.

They are hesitant to tell you of your monetary barrier.

Be careful of that contract you sign.

All that fine print seems so benign.

Sometimes it’s a barrier. A very solid wall.

They’ll just text you. There’s no need to call.

Between people, the distance it does create.

A text is all you’re worth. No need to relate.

At dinner, after eating the food to the bone.

The first thing they do is look at their phone.

Some people check every minute, or maybe five.

They have to see if, in vanity, they are alive.

In restaurants, on their phone, they stare.

Others at the table, they really don’t care.

At a red light, they stare at their phone.

Turns green. No go. People behind moan.

Many horns honk. So long and so loud!

They’re triggered out of the phone cloud.

To drive a car while texting on a device.

Wonder how many have paid the price.

Walking the street on the phone, having no clue.

Brain engaged, vision blind. Having no view.

Walks right into traffic. Almost hit by a car.

Talks away. Only the phone is on the radar.

For it can record many things. Words and your voice.

When people get a new model, they gleefully rejoice.

To some people, the phone is their own personal nurse.

Many worship it like God. It’s the center of their universe.

The phone they possess, they could not live without.

Without it, they believe, that their life is in doubt.

Beckoned into our society, is inserted this phone.

Like into a calm lake, is thrown a great stone.

The ripples persist. How long will they last?

It’s up to you how your phone is finally cast.
