Our Spare Tire.

We must all have a plan of contingency.
When things deviate from the stringency.
Our body is the vehicle in which we move.
To get to the next place so we can improve.
Our car helps us to get there fast.
So we have more time that will last.
As we view the pretty scenery, we hear a noise.
Suddenly this sound interrupts your quiet poise.
Stability is lost. Your body sways left and right.
The speed ceases. Fixed scenery is in your sight.
What to do now? This decision we desire.
Maybe get out and put on the spare tire.
In life, we should always have a backup plan.
Whether young or old. A woman or a man.
Uncertainty persists. Either bright day or dark night.
The animal inside must ask, do we fight or flight?
Plan ahead and there will be no battle.
Don’t, and you’re a baby with only a rattle.
Refuse to be a victim and learn what to do.
Study all the facets. What things work for you.
Maybe a knife. Or a gun. Or possibly hand to hand.
Learn all three. With this trinity, you can make a stand.
Now step out of your vehicle after opening the door.
Put your head on a swivel to assure threats no more.
Get out the jack, wrench, wheel chock, and tire.
Simply changing a tire should be everyone’s desire.
Jack up the tire. With the wrench. Lug nuts off!
Last one is stuck. At it, you violently scoff.
Like life, only the one can’t take all the stress.
As a team, working together, we share the duress.
Other lug nuts back on. Tighten them just lightly.
Now the one-lug nut pressure is lessened slightly.
And so, the lug nut of scoff comes off with a turn.
The other nuts come off with very little concern.
Old tire comes off. Now the new one goes on.
Tighten nuts in a star pattern. The battle is won.
You realize. Forgot the wheel chock, and parking brake.
In your stress of the rush, some safety you forsake.
Put all the stuff in the trunk. To sort it out later.
Check traffic. Leave the scene. Hit the accelerator.
Continue to your destination. Of course, you are late.
Better to arrive late than to arrive at the pearly gate.
You did it alone. No roadside assistance.
Much can be done with a little persistence.
A lesson of life was that flat tire and spare.
Must help yourself when there’s no one to care.
When doing the work, sometimes there’s some grime.
To try and stay perfectly clean, is sort of a crime.
Wisdom and knowledge are learned from the test.
In time, learning, fixing, and getting dirty make us the best.
